Artist Statement

The pace of tapestry weaving goes very well with my personal approach to artistic expression, the process of questioning and reflection over time. Working in both wet and dry mediums; painting, drawing, printmaking and photography and structured improvisations provide the vehicles of exploration for my work to emerge. The language and structure of tapestry are important aspects of this work. I value the level of commitment and skill in craft required in the processes of designing and weaving tapestries to produce quality. I love to have the variety of choices in my working methods that are possible. My work explores light and shadow, joy and sorrow, aspects of the human condition and our common humanity.
